| Tosg is a touring theatre company developing professional Gaelic
theatre, and will offer a variety of traditional, modern and new work |
|
| Tosg has a positive commitment to new writing. The company operates
an Encouragement Fund
as a catalyst to develop the work of emergent playwrights. New writers
are supported and encouraged to develop their writing through appraisal
and workshopping. |
|
| In 1996 Tosg toured with a new comedy production - Earball
- attracting good attendances and appreciative audiences. The production
used two writers who were writing for the stage for the first time, having
previously worked for the B.B.C television series "Ran Dan". For two of
the four actors, Earball presented them with their stage debut. All four
performers gained valuable experience and confidence which will be put
to further use in television and theatre situations in the future. The
experience gained on earball - for the actors and writers - has led to
increased demand on their talents for television productions. |
|
| Tosg teamed up with the Traverse Theatre Company and Mull Theatre
Company in 1996 to promote "Highland Voices" giving Highland based writers
an opportunity to promote their work in the central belt. |
|
| Tosg, in conjunction with the Highland Council's Culture &
Leisure Services, has held a Gaelic drama training weekend in Lochaber.
This gave those involved in Gaelic drama access to an intensive session
of tuition in performance skills. This is a model Tosg would like to expand
on in the future. |
|
| Tosg is keen to develop training and masterclasses for Gaelic
actors and performers. |
